Heather Green, Victims & Villains

Victims and Villains, a solo exhibition of twelve paintings by Chicago artist Heather Green will be on view at Kruger Gallery Chicago, 3709 N Southport Avenue, from January 16 – February 28, 2015. Green, a provocative, emerging artist uses portraiture as a call to activism in response to her perceived instances of injustice within today’s cultural climate.

The portrait is the central motif in most of Green’s work. Painted with strong, deliberate brush strokes, her portraits achieve an expressive style of realism with great attention to her subject’s expression. The large- scale of her paintings dwarfs viewers and challenges her audience to initiate change on both a political and social level.
