Lakeview Tree Lighting Ceremony
Sunday, November 24 from 6-8PM, with pre-tree lighting festivities at local businesses from 4:30-6pm
The Lincoln Hub at Lincoln/Southport/Wellington Intersection
Celebrate the kickoff of the holiday season in Lakeview with the lighting of Lakeview's community Christmas tree! Enjoy live performances and a special visit from Santa! The festivities will take place outdoors at the Lincoln Hub intersection of Lincoln/Southport/Wellington.
Pre-Tree Lighting Festivities from 4:30-6PM:
- Head to S&G Restaurant before the tree lighting for an ornament-making arts & crafts project hosted by KidCreate Art Studio! You can put your ornament on the Lakeview Christmas tree or bring it home! S&G will also be serving free hot chocolate and cookies!
- Pioneer Realty Group will be doing selfies with Santa, an arts & crafts activity and candy in their store! Stop in on your way to the Lakeview Tree Lighting Ceremony!
- Big City Optical on Lincoln Ave will have a holographic eyeglasses decorating station for viewing holiday lights! Stop by their store to decorate a pair and bring them to the Lakeview Tree Lighting Ceremony for an even more magical view of the tree lights! They will also be serving treats and hot chocolate!
The Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin at 6PM. Highlights include:
- Carols performed by students from Alphonsus Academy and Center for the Arts
- Appearances by cast members from Gian Carlo Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors" performing this November and December at Athenaeum Theatre
- A countdown to the tree lighting featuring an appearance by Santa, joined by other community leaders
- S&G Restaurant and Golden Apple Diner will also be serving FREE hot chocolate from 6-8pm!
- Advocate Health will be hosting a Coat & Book Drive during the event, so please bring any used coats or books to donate to those in need!
